Colombia: Regulator blocks application linked to Cambridge Analytica

Colombia’s Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) ordered, as a preventive measure, the blocking of the Pig.gi mobile application due to its possible connection with the illegal use of personal data in relation to the global scandal involving British company Cambridge Analytica and the Facebook social network.

    The investigation comes after different personal data protection agencies from other countries and several national and foreign media reported on the existence of investigative actions and facts that would involve the British company Cambridge Analytica with the illegal manipulation or use of personal data of Facebook users.

    The entity explained that the order to temporarily block Pig.gi includes the restriction of web access via all URLs and IP addresses (web addresses) and / or download portals that allow access to the Pig.gi application.
