After almost four years of application, the European Commission is inviting public comment on the general block exemption regulation (GBER). The GBER exempts certain categories of public support from the obligation of prior notification to the Commission. Generally, exemptions apply to aid that supports SMEs; research, development and innovation; environmental protection; employment; training, and; regional investments.
The Commission will introduce a revised draft of the GBER in 2013. The amendments will be made within the context of the Commission’s state aid modernization initiatve.
Submissions will be accepted by September 12, 2012.
