Competition Commission to examine DCC Energy’s acquisitions of Total Downstream businesses
The OFT has referred DCC Energy’s acquisition of Total Downstream’s businesses to the Competition Commission. DCC Energy operates GB Oils, a U.K. supplier of oil products. One of the businesses DCC Energy has acquired is Total Butler, an oil distribution business that was GB Oils’ close rival. The OFT is thus concerned with the anticompetitive effects in the supply of oil products to customers requiring multiple site non-bulk deliveries. The merger may lead to higher prices of oil products for these customers.
