Davis Wright announced that prominent antitrust litigator, Chris Renner, will join its Washington, DC, office as partner on April 6, 2020. Renner was previously a partner at Boies Schiller Flexner and held senior management positions at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Renner’s practice is focused on companies in the technology, healthcare IT, and medical supply industries. He also represents mid-market and large companies in various industries in plaintiff-side contingency antitrust cases. While at the FTC, Renner gained extensive experience in conducting antitrust investigations, particularly involving technology clients, which has become an area of increasing focus among government regulators. Renner spent eight years at the FTC, including serving as an attorney advisor to the chairman and acting deputy assistant director of the Bureau of Competition.
“Chris has built an excellent reputation in the antitrust bar, including with his former colleagues at the FTC, through his consistently strong performance and track record of success,” said Rob Maguire, chair of DWT’s litigation practice group. “He fits the profile of many successful partners here: technically superior, entrepreneurial, industry-focused, and committed to working collaboratively to provide excellent client service.”
“DWT is the only firm I considered,” said Renner. “It is the perfect place for lawyers entering the prime of their careers to build successful practices. It is open and entrepreneurial, not hierarchical, and provides great support to lawyers’ practice development efforts. Being able to work with such a strong litigation practice and technology and healthcare groups will be great for my clients and me personally. I look forward to contributing to DWT’s growth as a destination practice for antitrust litigation.”
