The Justice Department’s top healthcare antitrust enforcer, Peter Mucchetti, has joined Clifford Chance.
Mucchetti, who spent 19 years with the DOJ’s antitrust division, is now a partner within Clifford Chance’s litigation and dispute resolution practice, the law firm announced Monday in a press release.
He joins Clifford Chance after most recently serving as the chief of the healthcare and consumer productions section in the DOJ’s antitrust division, where he oversaw health related mergers, including Aetna Inc.’s 2018 acquisition of CVS Health Corp.
As chief, Mucchetti oversaw a team of 25 attorneys who lead the antitrust division’s investigations into health insurance companies, hospitals, and healthcare providers.
Mucchetti started with the DOJ as a trial attorney, later becoming assistant chief of the healthcare and consumer protection section in 2011. He then became section chief in 2012.
At the DOJ, Mucchetti also lead investigations into the paper and lumber industries, as well as the food and beverage sectors.
