EU: Brazilian poultry exporters get merger go-ahead

The European Commission announced its approval of the buyout of Brazil-based food processors Zenda and Seara, groups currently owned by Marfrig Alimentos that exports poultry products to the EU.

    Brazil’s JBS will acquire the companies.

    Zenda is otherwise known as Columbus Netherlands. Seara is made up of six Brazilian companies altogether.

    Finding no significant threat to competition, the Commission announced its clearance of the buyout, though financial details of the deal were not reported.
