EU: Commission widens rules against anticompetitive behavior

The European Commission announced that it is extending the scope of prohibited anticompetitive behavior to include practices that result in even minor impacts to the market, reports say.

    In a de minimis notice, the Commission prohibited certain hardcore anticompetitive behaviors, including price-fixing and market allocation, even if the impact of those agreements is minor.

    Now, all behavior that aims to harm competition is excluded from the regulator’s safe harbor rules.

    The Commission also listed behaviors that are considered practices that aim to restrict competition. The list includes acts like information sharing and bid-rigging, reports say.
