EU/US: Publicis, Omnicom merger expects coordinated responses from EU, US regs

Competition regulators in the EU and US said they will cooperate in their reviews of the record-setting merger proposal between global advertising giants Publicis and Omnicom, according to European Commissioner Joaquin Almunia.

    The coordination suggests the regulators will likely come to similar conclusions on the deal, say reports.

    Publicis, based in France, and Omnicom, based in the US, revealed plans to merge last July, though according to the European watchdog the firms have yet to request antitrust clearance.
