Fire Truck Price-Fixing Lawsuits Consolidated in Wisconsin Federal Court

A group of lawsuits alleging that major fire truck manufacturers engaged in a coordinated effort to inflate prices nationwide will now be handled in a single federal court in Wisconsin. According to Bloomberg, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation issued an order on April 3 transferring roughly a dozen cases to the US District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

    The litigation centers on claims brought by purchasers who argue that companies including Oshkosh Corp., REV Group and Rosenbauer America LLC worked together to limit competition and raise costs for fire trucks. These lawsuits, first filed in 2025, span multiple states, including New Jersey, Massachusetts and Wisconsin, reflecting what plaintiffs describe as a broad, nationwide scheme.

    Per Bloomberg, the panel determined that consolidating the cases would streamline pretrial proceedings, avoid duplicative discovery and reduce the risk of inconsistent rulings across jurisdictions. The panel also appointed Judge William C. Griesbach to oversee the coordinated litigation.

    The complaints allege that the manufacturers’ actions placed financial strain on municipalities and fire departments, which rely on specialized emergency vehicles that are often purchased with public funds.
