France: Authorities lodge complaint against Expedia

France’s competition regulator has lodged a complaint against US-based travel booking site Expedia in commercial court over a contract clause used by the site with French hotel partners.

    Reports say the General Directorate for Competition Polity, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control filed the complaint Wednesday against Expedia’s use of contracts that gives the company a say it how French hotels sell open rooms, as well as what price. Expedia denied any wrongdoing.

    The authority also threatened to file a similar suit with another online booking firm, though declined to name which one.
