France: Authorities refuse involvement in network-sharing venture

As wireless operator Free looks to enter into the network-sharing partnership held by competitors SFR and Bouygues Telecom, reports say France’s competition regulators are refusing to intervene on behalf of Free.

    The remarks come just weeks after Free announced interest in joining the network-sharing venture, revealing it had sent letters to both the competitors as well as the nation’s competition authorities.

    While the regulator said it is, in general, in favor of such joint ventures, Competition Authority president Bruno Lasserre noted that it was not the job of the regulator to decide such cases.
