France: EU corrects remarks about D-Day programming probe

The European Commission has corrected remarks made earlier this week regarding antitrust complaints over French broadcasting plans for D-Day commemorative programming, reports say.

    The Commission said Wednesday that it has not received any complaints regarding the matter, a correction of remarks made Tuesday that the regulator received complaints of anticompetitive D-Day programming distribution plans.

    French broadcasters have come under fire for the agreement it has made with media conglomerates to share the programming material; according to reports, broadcasters across the world are concerned of unfair prices to broadcast the content.

    But the European Commission said Wednesday that it had not received official complaints on the matter, correcting itself from earlier remarks a spokesperson had said.
