France: Watchdog to rule on Vivendi, Numericable deal today

France’s antitrust regulator is reportedly set to reveal its decision today on whether it will clear cable operator Numericable’s planned takeover of telecommunications firm SFR.

    According to reports, the competition authority will rule today on the merger after announcing last July an in-depth investigation of the transaction.

    Numericable, owned by Altice, won a bidding war to acquire SFR from its current owner Vivendi last April. Numericable beat out rival Bouygues to acquire the assets.
