Germany: Amazon targeted for third party seller policies

Amazon is in hot water with German officials again as the nation’s antitrust watchdog explores whether the online retailer breached competition law. According to reports, 2,400 traders on Amazon’s Marketplace platform will be questioned by authorities as the company is suspected of banning third party sellers from selling products on platforms other than its own. The Federal Antitrust Office has announced “considerable” evidence against the retailer on grounds that its policies hindered competition. Authorities also noted that if found to have breached law, the company could be forced to change its policy.
