Germany/France: Flavor and scent maker agrees on sweet $1.8B merger

 |  April 14, 2014

Germany-based Symrise, which manufacturers flavors and scents, has reportedly inked a $1.8 billion merger deal that will pull the company into third place for the world’s flavor and scent companies.

Symrise will acquire France-based Diana Group and its debt, say reports, a deal that will expand Symrise’s operations in the pet food natural ingredients industry.

The acquisition will allow the German company to more adequately compete with rival Givaudan, say reports.

Earlier reports saw Japan’s Ajinomoto as a competing bidder for the French company.
