Germany/Italy: ThyssenKrupp steel giant partners with electrolysis firm

Germany-based steel and technology giant ThyssenKrupp announced plans to initiate a joint venture with Italy-based electrochemical technologies conglomerate De Nora in efforts for the steel firm to expand its industrial plant engineering operations, according to reports.

In a statement, ThyssenKrupp said the two firms will join their engineering, construction and procurement skills for electrolysis plants, enabling the companies to “expand their technological platforms.”

The new firm will be named ThyssenKrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers will mostly be owned by ThyssenKrupp, though the companies declined to offer specifics of the ownership structure as well as financial details of the deal, which remains subject to regulatory approval.
