The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Dr. Jürgen Beninca has joined the Firm’s Antitrust & Competition Law Practice and will be based in its Frankfurt Office.
Dr. Beninca is the latest addition to one of the world’s leading antitrust practices with more than 150 lawyers in more than 21 of Jones Day’s offices around the world.
With close to 20 years of experience in the practice of antitrust law, Dr. Beninca focuses his practice on representing clients in antitrust compliance and merger control proceedings before the German and European antitrust authorities as well as in damage claim proceedings resulting from antitrust violations. He has extensive experience in the field of internal investigations and anticorruption matters, an excellent complement to Jones Day’s Investigations & White Collar Defense Practice in Germany, which recently added Karin Holloch in Düsseldorf.
One of Dr. Beninca’s notable recent matters was his representation of Griesson – de Beukelaer GmbH & Co. KG in the “Konditionenvereinigung” proceedings before the Higher Regional Court in Düssseldorf in a case concerning an alleged exchange of commercially sensitive information among competitors.
“We are very happy to welcome Jürgen, who is a great fit for us in terms of his personality and his qualities as a team player,” said Ansgar Rempp, Jones Day’s Partner-in-Charge of Germany. “As antitrust authorities all over the world are taking an increasingly hard line with respect to scrutiny, investigations, and penalties related to anticompetitive issues, clients’ need for antitrust legal services continues to grow. For this reason, the continuing expansion of our antitrust practice is one of our most important strategic goals in Germany.”
