Germany: Sixt rental car firm debunks merger rumors

 |  March 24, 2014

German rental car company Sixt has denied rumors it is in discussions to merge with rival Europcar, say reports.

Sixt denied the merger talks at its annual press conference Monday. Buyout rumors began after France’s Europcar announced plans to launch an IPO last week.

Sixt did confirm, however, that it has interest in mergers, though reportedly is only interest in US assets, of which there is little left to acquire. The company said it would like to have 1,000 sites in the US, though did not name any specific merger targets to accomplish that goal.
