Several major law firms across the globe have recently shaken up their mergers and acquisitions rosters, according to reports.
Jones Day has added three new M&A partners to its practices in New York in London. Michael McGuinness and George Flemma will join the New York office, while Benedict O’Halloran joins Jones Day’s London office.
According to a statement from the firm, Flemma will join the firm from General Electric Oil & Gas, where he was executive counsel for mergers and acquisitions. O’Halloran was also at General Electric, while McGuinness joins from Shearman & Sterling, where he was the head of the firm’s Latin America M&A practice.
Meanwhile, Freshfields has announced two new additions to its office in New York. Mitchell Presser will head the firm’s US M&A operations and will join from Paine & Partners, which eh founded. James Douglas will join Freshfields as well.
The new hires come as Sheppard Mullin announced Joshua Dean as its latest addition in its California Office, among other new hires.
According to reports, the wave of M&A lawyer shakeups signals the ongoing importance of global merger transactions.
