India: CCI looking into 15% hike in freight rates

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has admitted a complaint against All-India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), after the country’s largest trucker lobby announced a nearly 15% increase in freight charges following the recent hike in diesel prices. The investigation will concentrate on AIMTC’s is possible abuse of its dominant position by coercing all truckers under its umbrella to hike freight rates and stifling the free play of market forces.
