India: CCI set to get search and seizure powers

The government is set to give search and seizure powers to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to help it investigate companies indulging in unfair trade practices. If the move on search and seizure is aimed at improving the quality of investigation by the fairplay watchdog, the government is also looking to provide protection to intellectual property systems of companies and other entities that deal with CCI.
