India: Dominance abuse accusations against realty firm dismissed by CCI

Allegations of abuse of dominance against realty firm BPTP were dismissed on July 31 by the Competition Commission of India, reports revealed. In an official statement, the CCI said the company “does not appear to be in a dominant position in the relevant market” and therefore does not appear to be in violation of competition law. The allegations accused BPTP of abusing its market position in Faridabad concerning its residential apartments. Specifically, the complaints said the company unilaterally changed contractual agreements, among other accusations. The CCI ruled that the documents filed along with the complaint did not substantiate these claims, however.
