India: JD-RJD merger on hold

The proposed merger between the JD(U) and RJD in Bihar and among the larger Janata Parivar at the national level is now officially on hold, with a number of differences cropping up between them.

    JD(U) said the scheduled visit of party strongman Nitish Kumar to Delhi on January 30 now stands postponed.

    RJD president however, feels the merger can continue. “Even if no one joins hands with me, I will wage a battle (against BJP) on my own,” said (RJD) President Lalu.
