Indonesia: High beef prices lead to suspicions of cartel

Indonesia’s Business Competition Supervisory Commission, also known as KPPU, has announced an investigation into the nation’s beef and cattle prices after a noticeable spike in costs. According to the KPPU, the authority has found signs on anticompetitive behavior in the market; KPPU chairman Nawir Messi said in a statement that there is possible “cartel-like or oligopolistic business practices” in the food commodities sector.
