Interoperability is the only way to ensure that ecosystems are able to benefit from their own investments on platforms and services, according to Jorge Padilla, Chair EMEA Compass Lexecon. The alternative could be a regulated business model, including a prohibition on vertically integrated platforms, that may be costlier for society and reduce incentives to innovate.
