Ireland: C&C takes advantage of growing U.S. cider market

To supplement its weak business in U.K. markets, Ireland’s C&C will buy Vermont Hard Cider. Sales in the U.K. have slipped due to a peculiarly wet summer, though C&C is taking advantage of the growing market for hard cider in the U.S., where sales rose 16 percent between March and August. C&C has proposed the deal for $305 million.
