Israel: Possible monopoly in natural gas field concerns Antitrust Authority

As reports are emerging that Israel’s Antitrust Authority may soon declare the partners in the nation’s largest natural gas field a monopoly. According to reports, the Authority is to determine whether partners – including Delek Group Ltd., Avner Oil Exploration LP and Noble Energy Inc. – constitute a cartel in their share of the gas field Leviathan. Analysts say if the partners are found to hold a monopoly, regulators may force divestment of holdings in Leviathan on to the partners. The result, however, will likely end in a compromise, say analysts.
