Italy: Budget airlines Ryanair, EasyJet fined for insurance flap

 |  February 17, 2014

Italian antitrust regulators have slapped fines on EU budget airlines Ryanair and EasyJet for a lack of transparency in offering insurance to customers, say reports.

A fine of $1.16 million was sanctioned against Ryanair, while EasyJet was stung with a $270,000 fine.

The regulator has given Ryanair 30 days to respond to the sanctions with a plan to make its flight cancelation insurance policy more consumer-friendly, reports say, while EasyJet had already made adjustments to its policy.
