Italy: Impregilo-Salini deal under investigation

Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM), Italy’s competition watchdog has launched an investigation into the proposed agreement between contractors Impregilo and Salini. The agreement that was reached at the end of September could have potential impacts on the competition in the market. Both companies agreed to embark on joint commercial strategies in domestic and international markets, and have decided to submit joint bids. However, the watchdog said that these compromises would not constitute a merger.
