Italy: Latest Alitalia crisis looks towards Air France-KLM

 |  October 3, 2013

Reports say financially troubled Alitalia may be looking for a bailout through a merger with Franco-Dutch airline Air France-KLM.

According to reports, Air France-KLM would require strict conditions in order for the company to up its stake in Alitalia from its current 25 percent hold over the company. But, if those conditions are met, Air France-KLM head Alexandre de Juniac said a merger could proceed.

Reports say Alitalia’s board will hold a meeting this week to discuss funding necessary to keep the company running amid financial turmoil.
