Japan: Authorities grant clearance for $471M semiconductor buyout

    Murata Electronics announced last August it reached an agreement to wholly acquire US-based Peregrine Semiconductor. The transaction will involve Murata’s US subsidiary, reports say.

    Now, Japan’s FTC has cleared the deal, and the companies said they expect to close the merger by the end of the year. Peregrine shareholders are expected to meet next month to vote on the transaction.
