According to a statement, the new practice will provide clients with strategic legal guidance as federal and state antitrust enforcement activity continues to expand alongside a rise in private litigation. The firm said the practice is designed to help companies navigate compliance concerns, government investigations, merger reviews, and antitrust litigation.

The practice will be co-chaired by Harrison McAvoy and Grant Petrosyan. McAvoy recently joined the firm and brings experience handling antitrust litigation and counseling matters across sectors including healthcare and pharmaceuticals. Petrosyan focuses on complex disputes and antitrust-related matters, per statement.

The firm said the team also includes attorneys with backgrounds in federal prosecution, intellectual property, commercial litigation, and criminal defense, allowing the group to address a broad range of competition law issues. According to a statement, the practice will advise clients on compliance, strategic transactions, risk management, and litigation matters involving both plaintiffs and defendants.

The launch comes during a period of expansion for the firm. Over the past year, Mandelbaum Barrett PC has increased its capabilities across several practice areas in response to changing client demands, according to a statement.

“We’re seeing antitrust issues come up in places clients didn’t expect even a few years ago, whether in routine business decisions, competitor interactions, or transactions that draw regulatory attention,” said William S. Barrett, CEO of Mandelbaum Barrett PC. “Our approach is grounded in both the legal framework and the commercial realities our clients are operating in. This is about giving clients clear, practical guidance when the stakes are high and the path forward isn’t always obvious.”

The firm noted that companies are increasingly encountering competition-related concerns in day-to-day operations and strategic planning. The practice is expected to support clients dealing with issues ranging from pricing models and distribution strategies to mergers and acquisitions.

“Antitrust issues don’t just emerge in investigations or litigation anymore—they come up in pricing decisions, distribution strategies, data-driven business models, and M&A activity,” said McAvoy. “What clients need in those moments is advice that’s not theoretical, but grounded in how these issues actually play out, so they can move forward with confidence.”

According to a statement, the practice will work closely with businesses on proactive compliance efforts, risk assessments, litigation strategy, and regulatory review processes while focusing on practical business outcomes.

Petrosyan emphasized the group’s approach to handling complex matters efficiently. “Our job is to focus on what really matters, cut through unnecessary complexity, and give clients straightforward advice that aligns with their business objectives.”
