Mexico’s regulator COFECE released a notice announcing an investigation into the potential occurrence of horizontal monopolistic practices, colloquially referred to as cartel practices. Specifically, these practices may involve competitors coordinating their bids for public health sector tenders for radiologic equipment and related products in Mexico.
COFECE has taken a serious stance on cartel practices in the healthcare sector, as these illegal actions lead to decreases in the quality and quantity of medical supplies purchased with government resources for public use. Such behavior is not tolerated and efforts to identify and eliminate these activities are ongoing.
