Mexico: Heineken to sell bottling business to Crown Holdings

Beer conglomerate Heineken has reportedly agreed to a $1.2 billion sale of its bottling operations in Mexico to Crown Holdings.

    Reports say Heineken announced Monday it will sell EMPAQUE, which manufacturers aluminum cans, bottles and bottle caps, to Crown.

    In a statement, Crown said the deal would significantly strengthen its presence across North America in the bottling and packaging industry. Reports say the acquisition will bring Crown to the position of second-largest beverage can producer on the continent.

    The deal remains subject to regulatory scrutiny.
