 |  August 2, 2016

Mexico’s Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has announced it received 421 bids and expressions of interest by individuals and companies wishing to take part in an upcoming public contest, where 191 FM frequencies and 66 AM frequencies will be up for grabs.

Mario Fromow, standing commissioner at the institute, had announced only the previous week of 330 suitors, meaning a one-day increase of 91 new potential bidders.

“These results are evidence of a widespread interest in the market for getting new broadcast stations and for greater competition. The interested parties include 189 individuals, as well as 232 companies” said the IFT’s communication.
