Middle East: Construction mega-firms weigh joining forces

The largest construction company in the United Arab Emirates, Arabtec, said a merger with two foreign construction giants, say reports. Arabtec CEO Hasan Abdullah Ismaik announced that he is “mulling” such a deal with companies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The CEO of the Dubai-based firm did not confirm the names of the companies that may be involved in the deal, though told media that benefits of the possible merger would “be felt by the shareholders and the market.” Arabtec helped construct the globe’s tallest building in Dubai.
