    The streaming giant recently registered a new lobbyist to represent its interests in the US capital. Seth Bloom, a longtime antitrust lawyer who previously worked for the Senate Judiciary Committee, has begun lobbying on behalf of Netflix, per Bloomberg. Bloom also served as an aide to former Senator Herb Kohl of Wisconsin, a Democrat known for his focus on competition policy.

    Bloom is the founder of Bloom Strategic Counsel, a firm that has represented several major corporations on regulatory and policy matters. His recent clients include Amazon.com and Comcast Corp., according to Bloomberg, underscoring his deep ties to both the technology and media sectors.

    The move comes as Netflix seeks to address skepticism surrounding its deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, which is valued at more than $80 billion. Lawmakers have warned that the transaction could reduce competition in the streaming market and ultimately lead to higher prices for consumers, Bloomberg reported.

    By bringing on an experienced antitrust specialist with extensive Capitol Hill credentials, Netflix appears to be signaling that it is preparing for a prolonged policy debate over the deal’s competitive impact.
