Netherlands: Dairy co-op gets buyout go-ahead

 |  April 15, 2013

The European Commission has announced its approval given to Dutch dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina of two other Dutch companies, but with concessions. The co-op, which has been approved to acquire cheese wholesaler Zijerveld & Veldhyzen B.V. and packaging company Den Hollander Food B.V., was not approved of its original transaction proposal, as the Commission noted it raised competition concerns over the sale of some goat cheese products in the Netherlands. As part of the concessions, FrieslandCampina will alter the current supply agreement between the acquired companies and goat cheese cooperative Amalthea van Dijk B.V.
