Netherlands: New antitrust body remains in limbo

 |  January 28, 2013

The new Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets remains un-launched as the Dutch Senate awaits the proper legislation to pass through. The ACM, which merges the nation’s current Netherlands Competition Authority, the Netherlands Independent Post and Telecommunications Authority, and the Netherlands Consumer Authority, was scheduled to launch on January 1st. The act that establishes the new body – the Establishment Act – however has not yet been brought to the floor of the Dutch Senate. The NMa says the Senate is scheduled to hear the bill on February 5.
