The NMa has reportedly blocked Continental Bakeries’ acquisition of bakery group Bolletje, according to the Dutch antitrust authority. The NMa gave reasoning for blocking the deal so as to prevent an increase in prices of beschuit, a typical Dutch crisp bake often prepared to celebrate the birth of a child. According to report, the merger would have given the new entity between 70 and 80 percent of market dominance in the crisp bake sector. No response from either company was yet reported.
