Netherlands: Watchdog approaches closure to mobile telco probe

 |  October 10, 2013

The Dutch competition regulator said it expects to finalize its probe of the nation’s mobile telecommunications operators by the end of the month, say reports.

The Consumer and Market Authority chairman Chris Fonteihn told reporters that the investigation into allegations of price-fixing is on track to end this month.

While the regulator declined to comment on specifics or potential outcomes of the probe reports say the launch of the inquiry coincided with the late-2011 raids of offices of Vodafone, KPN and T-Mobile on price-fixing suspicious.

The three companies were also fined in 2011 for forming a cartel, though those fines were eventually lessened.
