The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Communications Commission has made a call for consumers to be able to transfer their mobile telephone numbers between carriers as a way to strengthen mobile telecommunications competition. Dr. Eugene Juwah made the remarks at the 73rd Telecoms Consumer Parliament and called upon the spirit of competition and consumer protection to enact a policy change that would allow for mobile number transferability. According to Juwah, the move would “give rise to healthy competition in the industry, enhance quality of service and improve customer service delivery to the consumers.”
