Norway’s largest supermarket chain NorgesGruppen is said to be considering an appeal of a recently-issued fine against the firm for anticompetitive practices, say reports.
Norway’s competition regulator issued a fine of nearly $4.4 million on NorgesGruppen for illegally operating 22 of 24 recently-acquired grocery stores from rival ICA Maxi despite having not received regulatory approval to do so.
Regulators fined the company after finding NorgesGruppen operating the stores it bought from rival ICA Maxi in April of 2012.
Earlier this month authorities overturned the NorgesGRuppen/ICA Maxi merger; NorgesGruppen is also appealing that decision.
