Pakistan: CCP chairperson appointment challenged by High Court

Pakistan’s Sindh High Court has reportedly initiated a challenge to the recent appointment of the chairperson for the Competition Commission of Pakistan, as well as to four other CCP members of the regulator. A petition has been filed against Chairperson Rahat Konain Hasan’s appointment on the grounds that the notification of the appointments was under “defunct ordinance” and were made in violation of federal antitrust law. The petitioner argues the appointments are now null and void.
