Pakistan: Competition Commission revising telco regulations

 |  September 14, 2014

The Competition Commission of Pakistan is rethinking the way it regulates the telecommunications industry, say reports, as it plans to revise the guidelines applied to the industry.

An official statement by the CCP announced its draft “Marketing Practices Guidelines for the Telecom Sector,” which would replace the current “Deceptive Marketing Guidelines for the Telecom Sector” rules.

Reports say the rules cover wireless operators, broadband and Internet operators, and more.

The draft guidelines include rules governing “the distribution of false or misleading information in respect of telecommunications products or services,” reports say, a move that will heavily impact how telco companies advertise their products.
