Pakistan: Many players, but low competition in non-life insurance sector

Reports say despite the many players within the non-life insurance market, competition is stunted, especially when compared to its counterpart in India. The Insurance Association of Pakistan has as many as 30 registered insurance companies as of 2011’s end; India’s market, in contrast, has only 27 with an economy about eight times the size of Pakistan’s. Experts say the trend may be due to the companies’ tendency towards short-range business strategies.
