Peru: Protestors prompt regulator to take a look at Liquified Gas market

Transportation workers from the Chiclayo region of Perú gathered today before the national market regulator, INDECOPI, in protest against the “unjustified” rise of prices for LPG gas, a vital fuel.

    The agency promptly responded to the protester’s requests, informing them they have a permanent monitoring program for the LPG market set in place. However, INDECOPI clarified that their intervention would be limited to situations where suppliers or producers could be engaged in illicit, anti-competitive practices. The agency would not regulate or set a price for the product, as current legislation guarantees a free market regimen for the product.
