PCC Chairperson Arsenio M. Balisacan, along with the agency’s commissioners, travelled to Australia for a two-day “study visit,” according to a press statement released yesterday.
The officials engaged in dialogues with the leaders of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), ranked among the world’s best competition authorities.
PCC commissioners Johannes Benjamin R. Bernabe, Menardo I. Guevarra, and Stella Luz Alabastro-Quimbo joined Mr. Balisacan in visiting the offices of the Australian authority in Sydney and Canberra, where they met ACCC Chairperson Rod Sims and Commissioner Mick Keogh.
The PCC officials also met with other Australian anti-trust experts, including Allan Herbert Miller Fels, the first chairman of the ACCC; and Russell Miller, competition lawyer and author of a leading reference on Australia’s anti-trust and consumer protection law.
