Philippine: PCC tells cartel members to come clean

The country’s antitrust watchdog called on cartel members to “come clean” and share information on anticompetitive agreements amid its launch of a whistleblower-type program at the start of the year.

“We urge current and former cartel members to turn their backs on anticompetitive agreements such as price-fixing and bid-rigging,” Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) Chairman Arsenio Balisacan said in a press briefing last week.

“The PCC will not hesitate to carry out its mandate under the Philippine Competition Act and bear down on those suspected of participating in cartel conduct. We strongly urge cartel members to come clean and disclose information to the PCC before the law’s long arm catches them,” he added.
