Portugal: Antitrust has not made a decision on football rights

Portugal’s Competition Authority has issued a statement in which it says that no decision has been taken on the TV rights contracts between football clubs and pay-TV operators Meo and Nos.

    The antitrust added it was collecting information on recent developments in the market for TV rights to premium sports content and will assess, in due time, how it should continue its intervention.

    The statement came as a reaction to a report published in Portuguese daily Sol, which claimed that the antitrust will annul the contracts signed by the two operators with the Benfica, Sporting and FC Porto clubs.
